What You'll Do
Duties and responsibilities of the Explosives Safety Analyst Specialist include, but are not limited to:
- Functions as an Explosives Safety Subject Matter Expert (SME) to ensure compliance with DOE-STD-1212-2025 through the evaluation of new and proposed revisions to technical operating procedures, design drawings, process equipment, and facility systems, structures, and components (SSCs)
- Acts as the technical lead on assigned explosives processes, in regards to explosives safety, and perform technical evaluations of explosives processes
- Evaluates changes to explosives operations, facilities, and equipment to ensure that safe explosives operations are established and maintained
- Understands and applies explosives safety requirements to plant manufacturing and testing activities

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related engineering/physical science discipline and at least 4 years of relevant experience in high consequence operations with typical experience ranging from 7 to 10 years
- OR Master's degree in a related engineering/physical science discipline and at least 3 years of relevant experience in high consequence operations with typical experience ranging from 7 to 10 years
- OR PhD in a related engineering/physical science discipline with typical experience ranging from 7 to 10 years
- In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2 (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related science, 2 years job-related and at least 1 year nuclear experience, or a DOE O 426.2 alternative)
- DOE 426.2 experience requirements can be satisfied following employment
- In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities
Preferred Job Requirements
- Prior experience with explosives development, explosives manufacturing processes, explosives facilities / operating procedures, explosives testing: analytical, mechanical, destructive, and non-destructive, is preferred
- Ability to make informed, independent decisions on narrowly defined tasks, projects, or issues pertaining to Explosives Safety
- Able to evaluate how proposed changes potentially affect explosives operations
- Able to apply scientific principles, mathematics, and material science to the evaluation of explosives operations against federal safety requirements
- Able to exercise initiative, independent judgment, and discretion under limited supervision and implement change throughout Pantex
- Able to Interact with organizations across the Nuclear Weapons Complex
- Able to present information clearly and effectively through the oral and written word

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
