We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Wine & Beer Buyer to be responsible for selecting and purchasing quality products for our stores. This position will be full time at our Birmingham store. Pay is commensurate with experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Order wine and beer products according to anticipated sales and seasonal needs. Maintains appropriate inventory levels to achieve sales and margin goals.
- Maintains awareness of current ads, promotions, holidays and events. Plans for weekly ads, events and holidays using tools and reports. Works with Manager to understand and respond to current store trends.
- Maintains professional vendor relationships.
- Ensures beer and wine area is clean, attractive and easy to shop and adheres to merchandising standards.
- Builds displays and arranges department products to make attractive presentations, highlighting featured/unique/seasonal items.
- Stocks, rotates, and faces products with attention to product quality and expiration dates.
- Maintains accurate pricing and signage that meet merchandising standards.
- Ensures customer special orders are accurately placed and delivered.
- Demonstrates excellent knowledge and familiarity with products in the department, including terminology, labeling, recommended uses, and vendor/supplier information, with skills to continue learning.
- Follows company procedures for processing invoices, transfers, and credits.
- Handles damaged and spoiled product according to company policy.
- Maintains cleanliness, organization and rotation of all areas, products, and supplies.
- Demonstrates an awareness of trends in the industry.
- Responds to and follows through on emails and other communications in a timely manner.
