Job Summary
The Mechanic Trainee will be responsible for maintenance, parts replacement, and repair of vehicles and equipment. Perform duties such as furnishing tools, materials, and supplies to other workers, cleaning work area, machines, and tools, and holding materials or tools for other work ers. Light fleet mechanical repairs under the supervision of a senior mechanic.

What You'll Do
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Provide general assistance around the shop.
- Assist with shop loading and preparation as needed.
- Clean and maintain equipment as directed.
- Make sure workers have the tools necessary to complete their assigned tasks.
- Transfer tools, parts, equipment, and supplies to and from work stations and other areas.
- Disassemble broken or defective equipment to facilitate repair and reassemble equipment when repairs are complete.
- Hold or supply tools, parts, equipment, and supplies for other workers.
- Operate Vehicles, Mechanized Devices, or Equipment — Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, aircraft, or water craft.
- Communicate with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates — Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
- Get Information — Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
- Move materials, equipment, or supplies.
- Order materials, supplies, or equipment as directed.
- Inspect mechanical equipment to locate damage, defects, or wear.
- Must wear personnel protective equipment (i.e. Hard hats, safety glasses, safety harnesses as required) and respirators when required.
- Ability to work 7:00 am to 3:30 PMWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- This position requires the ability to occasionally lift products and supplies, up to 50 pounds.
- The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
- The worker is sometimes subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
- Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
- Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
- Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
- Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

- Previous experience in shop work or construction is helpful
