We are seeking a hands-on, highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced Assistant Director of Production to support the Director of Production in leading and managing all aspects of the sales order departments. This role ensures that sales orders meet quality standards and production standards while optimizing efficiency and workflow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Extensive and immersive training in all sales order operations departments to gain a day-to-day working knowledge of each department.
- Work closely with all department heads, Leads and staff to coordinate responsibilities across sales order operations departments.
- Monitor production schedules, identify potential bottlenecks, and implement solutions to maintain deadlines.
- Ensure efficient production operations and optimal productivity.
- Serves as a resource to department heads to solve interdepartmental and intercompany related issues (team member guidance or issues between departments).
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following and enforcing standards and procedures while ensuring compliance with legal regulations.
- Elevate issues pertaining to financial or significant inventory impact and follow-up with Director of Production.
- Facilitate staff coverage for all areas, depending on needs during peak season or vacancy periods.
- Identifies areas of improvement and works with Director of Production and individual departments to facilitate needed change to maximize efficiency while maintaining quality standards.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive with collaboration from the Director of Production.
- Inspire others to achieve personal growth as well as company goals.
- Assist with all other tasks and duties (both in and across departments) as assigned or requested.
- In time, the five (5) sales order operations departments will report to the Assistant Director of Production after spending time in all departments and understanding the overall day-to-day workflow.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Production Management, Business Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- 3 years’ experience in multi-department management, operations, and leadership.
- Proven track record of improving production efficiency and process improvement.
- Experience implementing lean manufacturing methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
- Familiarity or certification in LEAN SIX SIGMA preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements:
- Fast-paced production setting with tight deadlines.
- This is primarily a production-based job that may require standing for extended periods of time and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Physically able to push/pull/lift/carry supplies and various works in progress of 50 pounds.
- Physically able to bend/kneel/walk/stand, in tandem with cart, stepstools or rolling ladders, to access supplies and various works in progress or other materials as needed in storage rooms or production areas.
- Full-Time, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm with occasional evening or weekend work based on production needs.
- Good vision, with or without corrective lenses, to sustain adequate visual focus over a period of time.
