Work Scope
Need Computer System Administrators with Linux system administration experience to assist with implementing and supporting diverse flavors of Linux (RHEL, SUSE, etc.), upgrading server operating systems to the latest supported version, VMware system deployment, patch management and system administration and overall system support activities.
Job Skills:
- Previous working experience as a Linux Administrator for (5) year(s)
- Experience of working in multiple server networks with multiple operating systems
- Specializing in one or more of the following areas: system administration on Oracle Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Linux, SUSE Linux and Server Virtualization
- Some working experience supporting and working with other server side operating systems such as Windows Server
- Good hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience
- Good hands-on performance management
- Good working knowledge of current systems software, and standards, including firewalls and Antivirus software
- Solid knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP and SNMP
- Experience with server virtualization technology (VMware, Oracle OVM)
- Familiarity with SAN management and concepts
- Expert in Shell, Perl, and/or Python scripting
- Excellent communication skills and documentation skills
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Server hardware installation and system replacements (racking hardware and OS installation)
- Patch, configuration and security management duties
- Server anti-virus management, system monitoring and threat mitigation/incidence response
- Server administration and support
- Monitor, test, and tune system performance; preserve and provide system log files as needed
- Assist with on-going support, project work and other duties as assigned
- System documentation, system backup and recovery testing
- Coordinate and collaborate with network engineering, business application, and database administration function to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of corporate servers to meet business demands
- Act as a project lead in the design and review of new server systems, applications, and hardware; conduct capacity planning as needed
Skills
- Strong Red Hat Linux experience required
- Oracle Admin (preferred)
- SUSE (preferred)
- Some Windows (preferred)
