The Accounts Payable (AP) Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire accounts payable function, ensuring timely and accurate processing of payments, maintaining compliance with company policies, and optimizing financial processes. This role involves leading a team, developing best practices, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to support the company’s financial health.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the full-cycle accounts payable process, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Supervise, train, and mentor AP staff, fostering a culture of accountability and professional growth.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve AP operations and internal controls.
- Monitor cash flow related to AP activities and ensure timely vendor payments while optimizing payment terms.
- Establish and maintain strong vendor relationships, negotiating terms and resolving payment discrepancies.
- Ensure accurate and timely reconciliation of accounts payable ledgers and monthly financial reports.
- Oversee and approve expense reports, verifying adherence to company policies and financial guidelines.
- Coordinate with procurement, finance, and other departments to streamline workflows and resolve discrepancies.
- Lead process improvement initiatives, including automation and efficiency enhancements.
- Assist in preparing financial reports and providing key insights on AP performance to senior management.
- Support audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- At least three years of progressive accounts payable experience, with at least two years in a supervisory or management role.
- Certified Accounts Payable Professional (CAPP) or Certified Accounts Payable Manager (CAPM) certification preferred.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of accounts payable processes, financial controls, and accounting principles.
- Proficient in accounting/ERP systems, Netsuite, conversions/systems set up experience preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for vendor and internal stakeholder interactions.
Ability to handle confidential financial information with integrity.
