Job Title: Floating Lab Assistant
Location: Atlanta, GA (and surrounding areas)
Job Summary:
A busy Lab is seeking a Traveling Specimen Collector & Trainer to join our team. This role involves traveling to various offices in the Atlanta area, training field collectors on proper specimen collection techniques, and filling in at different locations where needed. The candidate will ensure compliance with collection standards, assist with billing documentation, and support overall team goals. This is a full-time position with benefits, offering an opportunity for growth within the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Travel daily to different locations to collect specimens, conduct on-site visits, and provide training as needed.
- Train specimen collectors on proper collection, ordering, packaging, and shipping techniques, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Assist in obtaining and verifying missing information for billing, collect signatures, and complete correction forms as needed.
- Ensure team goals are met concerning missing information, QNS (Quantity Not Sufficient) specimens, and rejections, addressing issues promptly.
- Coordinate with the supervisor to resolve scheduling conflicts, especially related to PTO/sick leave coverage.
- Onboard and train new team members, regularly reporting progress and challenges to the supervisor.
- Assist in developing and implementing cross-coverage plans when team members are absent, providing a coverage plan to the supervisor.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, sales reps, and team members to improve performance, compliance, and satisfaction with lab practices.
- Participate in weekly meetings with leadership to discuss improvement strategies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience in healthcare/EMS or a training division.
- Preferred experience in urine specimen collection training or phlebotomy.
- Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
- Proficient typing skills with speed and accuracy.
- Familiarity with lab eReq systems and potentially office EMR systems.
- Ability to meet turnaround times in a fast-paced production environment.
- Reliable and punctual with dependable transportation.
- Willingness to travel throughout Phoenix and surrounding areas daily.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in work.
- Capable of transferring knowledge to new situations effectively.
- Must pass a background check.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and email communication.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for long periods.
- Scrubs are the required uniform.
Compensation:
- Hourly wage: $17-$19 (based on experience), with potential for growth.
- Full-time position with benefits.
