The ideal candidate will have substantial exposure to monthly closing processes, forecasting and budgeting, and customer billing. They will be organized and approach each issue with an analytical mindset.
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing accounting operations, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and providing financial insights to support decision-making. This role requires a strong understanding of construction accounting principles, project-based financial reporting, and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers and executives.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger reconciliation.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, project budgets, and cash flow forecasts.
- Maintain job cost accounting and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and industry-specific financial standards.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports and presentations for senior management.
- Work closely with project managers to track financial performance and cost control measures.
- Develop and implement internal controls and financial policies to enhance operational efficiency.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions as needed.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within the accounting function.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the construction or consulting industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, including percentage-of-completion and job cost accounting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic insights.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Experience with financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes.
