Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Airborne Crew Served Weapons Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the NAVAIR Crew Served Weapons In-Service Engineering Activity. In this role, you will provide expert guidance and support to the Navy and Marine Corps in the maintenance, training, and operations of crew-served weapons and mounts, specifically on airborne platforms such as the UH-1, CH-53, V-22, and MH-60.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance: Maintain crew-served weapons and mounts in compliance with applicable NAVAIR technical publications.
- Test & Evaluation: Perform live-fire testing and evaluation on small arms weapon systems, ranging from 7.62mm to .50 caliber.
- Inventory Management: Assist in managing the inventory of repair parts for crew-served weapons and mounts.
- Material Handling: Build kits, receive and stock materials, and prepare materials for shipment.
- Training: Provide training on the utilization and maintenance of crew-served weapons and mounts, ensuring that technical instructions are conveyed clearly and concisely.
- Documentation: Create, edit, and maintain technical documentation using Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Crew Served Weapons Expertise: Experience in maintaining and utilizing crew-served weapons and mounts, particularly on airborne platforms (e.g., UH-1, CH-53, V-22, MH-60).
- Training Experience: Proven ability to provide training on the operation and maintenance of crew-served weapons.
- Technical Instruction: Strong ability to convey technical instructions in a clear and concise manner.
- Physical Capabilities: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs to chest height and work with heavy equipment.
- Security & Certifications: Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance and pass the Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives (AA&E) screening process.
- Forklift & Explosive Handling Certifications: Forklift license/certification is desired, with the ability to obtain explosive handling certification.
- Microsoft Office Proficiency: Ability to create and edit documents using Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Travel: Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
- Prior experience working with the Navy and Marine Corps on airborne platforms.
- Forklift certification
- Experience in inventory and logistics management for military weapons systems.
- Familiarity with NAVAIR technical publications and maintenance procedures.
