The Senior Accountant is a critical, hands-on role responsible for the accuracy and integrity of our financial processes and systems. This role requires a detail-oriented and technically skilled individual who excels in day-to-day accounting tasks while providing in-depth financial insights. The Senior Accountant will work closely with the team, driving timely and accurate financial reporting, performing essential accounting functions, and actively supporting process improvements.

The Senior Accountant will work closely with the team, driving timely and accurate financial reporting, performing essential accounting functions, and actively supporting process improvements.
In addition to that, a typical day-in-the-life of a Parallax Senior Accountant includes:
- Assisting in the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GAAP. Conduct in-depth analysis to provide actionable insights to the Controller and CFO.
- Taking ownership of the general ledger, including processing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and adjusting as needed. Act as liaison between staff accountants and Controller.
- Assisting in month-end and year-end close processes by preparing accruals, reconciliations, and detailed reporting, ensuring timely completion. Provide guidance and backup when needed to AP, AR, and staff accountants.
- Helping prepare audit schedules, gather supporting documentation, and collaborate with auditors to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
- Performing regular reconciliations of bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and fixed asset accounts to maintain data integrity and resolve discrepancies promptly as well as review of staff accountant reconciliations where needed.
- Managing and maintaining financial systems, specifically Deltek Costpoint, ensuring they are up-to-date and fully operational. Identify opportunities to optimize system performance and automate financial processes to improve efficiency. Ensure financial systems support accurate and timely financial reporting. Assist in the design and development of financial reports and dashboards that meet the needs of the finance team and senior management.
- Providing training and support to finance team members and collaborating with other departments in using the financial systems effectively as well as aligning with business needs and supporting the organizations goals. Act as the primary point of contact for system-related issues, troubleshooting, and resolving system problems as they arise.
- Ensure financial systems comply with accounting standards (GAAP/DCAA) and regulatory requirements. Stay updated on best practices in system management and ensure they are incorporated into the company’s processes.
Ideally, you are looking for your next long-term challenge and have these skill?
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA or CMA designation is a plus.
- At least 5-8 years of hands-on accounting experience, preferably in a similar role with a high degree of responsibility.
- Strong knowledge of accounting software and advanced Excel skills, including data analysis and modeling.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain high accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks.
- Resourceful and proactive in identifying and resolving accounting discrepancies and optimizing processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work well with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize work, and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Furthermore, do you have, or want to develop these skills?
- Demonstrated experience in working with Federal grants, contracts, MOU’s and similar legal instruments.
- Experience with financial management and reporting for Federal and State awards.
- Experience with OMB Circulars specifically including CFR220 and CFR 230 and Uniform Guidance Super Circular
