Job Description: Emergency Medical Dispatcher (Entry Level)

Pay Rate: $16 per hour
The Emergency Medical Dispatcher is responsible for receiving, evaluating, and prioritizing emergency and non-emergency calls for service. This role involves dispatching and coordinating EMS resources for both Inter-Facility Transfers (IFT) and 911 emergency calls. The dispatcher ensures a prompt and effective response to all service requests by utilizing communication skills, quick decision-making, and efficient resource management.
This entry-level position provides in-house training and certification, making it ideal for those looking to begin a career in emergency medical services. As a dispatcher, you will play a critical role in supporting EMS professionals in the field while providing vital assistance to the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Answer and process emergency and non-emergency calls, gathering and recording information to determine the nature and urgency of each call.
- Dispatch and coordinate EMS units to emergency and non-emergency incidents based on priority and availability.
- Monitor the status and location of all units, maintaining ongoing communication to ensure effective operations and personnel safety.
- Utilize computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems to enter call information, track resources, and manage response times.
- Provide pre-arrival instructions and guidance to callers in emergency situations.
- Maintain clear communication and coordination with EMS personnel, other emergency services, and healthcare facilities.
- Document all calls, dispatch activities, and communications accurately and thoroughly.
- Assist with administrative tasks, such as data entry, report generation, and scheduling.
- Participate in continuous training and professional development to stay current with dispatch protocols and emergency response techniques.
Qualifications

Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
