The Ideal candidates will be responsible for delivering an exceptional experience to banquet guests by efficiently organizing and coordinating banquet staffing, set-up, service and breakdown for all banquet functions in accordance with brand and company standards. They will deliver outstanding food and drink service at hotel banquet functions and make sure function space visually appealing and present the menu offering for the event. This may include linen and table setting, food station design, and beverage service. Other duties include general banquet preparation, room refreshes, and maintaining a sanitary environment.
Responsibilities:
- Check server and house person Banquet Event Orders (BEO) to ensure that all information is accurate.
- Check room set-up to see that BEO directions are completely followed. Ensure that all public areas are neat and clean.
- Make contact with group representatives. Explain how to make contact if needed throughout function.
- Communicate all BEO changes to catering office and affected departments.
- Operate as a banquet server; setting-up, greeting and serving the guest and breaking-down the function.
- Inspect banquet areas at end of function to ensure all equipment is returned to its proper area and all areas are clean.
- Know the menu for each function served and be able to explain the major ingredients and preparation method for each item to be served.
- Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
- Perform any other job related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Valid Food Handlers Card or Serv Safe Certification and TIPS Certification
- Must have 2 years of relevant Food &Beverage experience
- Ability to read write and speak English. Also comprehend labels on chemicals.
- Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
- Ability to transport up to 30 lbs. through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout the shift.
- Ability to operate beverage equipment, e.g., coffee maker with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public etc.
