Role and Responsibilities
Reporting under the Chief of Schools and Senior Vice President of Academics, the PSOE Academic Coordinator will serve as a liaison between school leadership and Network team. They will be responsible for monitoring and driving district-wide academic codification and fidelity. They will develop a deep knowledge and understanding of each school's student assessment data, staff professional development, and special programs.
Responsibilities
Instruction and Curriculum :
- Assists COS in supervising and aligning district curriculum and instructional programming. Manages the PSOE district academic dashboard.
- Oversees, monitors, and analyses the teacher observation and feedback process in order to determine how to effectively allocate support resources to schools.
- Works with school leaders to manage and facilitate the development of district curriculum maps that align to the DOE performance standards and the state assessment.
- Works with school leaders to ensure district lesson plans are codified and operationalized across the PSOE district.
- Manages the productivity, alignment, and fidelity of district strategic planning sessions.
Data and Assessments :
Works with COS, school leaders, and teacher leaders to manage all district assessments in compliance with all DOE guidelines and local assessment policiesAnalyzes current formative assessments platforms to ensure that they meet the depth of knowledge requirements and align to standards and state assessment blueprints.Fully understands and applies all aspects of PSOE assessment platforms.Ensures that reports utilized across the district are uniform and operationalized. Manages all data at the district level and reports to COS with analysis, trends, and action steps for improving student performance and meeting yearly goalsMeets with COS and school leaders to report on current student academic data at the site level and goals.Monitors student data throughout the year. Fully understands and can present data to all stakeholders.Professional Development :
Works with COS and school leaders to evaluate district and school professional development needs.Facilitates district professional development sessions when requested by the COS and ensures aligned programming of professional development across the district.Works with school leaders and teacher leaders to create, manage, and execute PSOE's New Teacher Academy.Manages the evaluation, alignment and fidelity of all exterior professional development opportunities.Assists COS in leading principal leadership training.Manages and facilitates a leader in training program for teacher leaders and other leaders across the district.Special Programs Management
Assists COS, Director of Special Education, and Director of English Language Learners in supporting school staff through observation / feedback, strategic planning sessions, lesson plan alignment, assessment accommodations, and data goals and analysis.Works with school leaders to manage the operation and fidelity of the PSOE Recovery process.Works with school leaders and school high ability coordinators to ensure full implementation and fidelity of the PSOE high ability program in alignment to the IDOE grant and district policies.Works with school leaders and school nurses to ensure all facets of the Paramount Health Data Project are being executed with fidelity.Works with school leaders to ensure full integration of PSOE MTSS.Politics and Public Facing
Maintains a keen understanding and ability to communicate local, state, and federal charter school law and policies.Knowledgably acts as academic representative for PSOE when requested by the COS.Presents academic data and information on PSOE programming to the CEO or PSOE Board of Directors.Acts as head academic liaison between all PSOE schools and the authorizer.Keeps COS apprised of Department of Education policies, initiatives, and mandates throughout the year. Maintains strong relationship with DOE and facilitates DOE led PD opportunities in the areas of instruction, assessments, and data.Demonstrates full understanding of the audience when presenting academic data or discussing PSOE programming.Communication and Strategic Decision Making
Fosters a positive, results-driven work environment in accordance with PSOE staff frameworks.Fosters interaction and coordination between all academic departments to ensure fidelity in communication and programs.Establishes and maintains a culture of trust between schools and departments across the district.Creates strategic solutions to problems based on multiple district data points and acts as professional adviser to COS on all academic matters.Assists the COS in creating a shared vision for PSOE Academics across the district through meetings, presentations, conversations, and public appearances.Closely monitors educational research trends, local, state, and federal standard and assessment changes, and developments in curriculum and instruction. Advises COS and school leadership teams to ensure PSOE academic programming is fully aligned to local, state, and national policies.Qualifications and Education Requirements
The Academic Coordinator will be thoroughly committed to the PSOE mission. All candidates should have proven leadership, coaching, and relationship management experience. Concrete demonstrable experience and other qualifications include :
Bachelor's degree in Education or Business Management, with 3 years of management / leadership experience preferred.Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation.Excellence in organizational management with the ability to set and achieve strategic objectives.Strong written and verbal communication skills. A persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.Passion, idealism, integrity, grit, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed.Preferred Skills
Proficiency in modern business and technology applications.Knowledge of charter school law and DOE policies.Knowledge of project management and data analysis.Knowledge of leadership and management principles as they relate to non-profit / voluntary organizations.Knowledge of current community challenges and opportunities relating to the mission of the organization.Additional Notes

The Academic Coordinator usually works in an office environment, but the mission of the organization may sometimes take them to non-standard workplaces. The Academic Coordinator works a standard workweek, but additionally will work evenings, weekends, and any additional hours necessary to accommodate activities such as Board meetings and representing the organization at public events.
