Description:

Do you enjoy working with families with infants/toddlers? Do you enjoy working in the home setting/completing home visiting? Would you like to work on a supportive and collaborative team of developmental specialists?

Wai'anae Coast Early Childhood Services (WCECS) is seeking full time Special Instructor(s)/Developmental Specialist(s) to provide Early Intervention (EI) services to families with infants and toddlers (0-35 months) with developmental delays in the Parent Child Development Centers in Wahiawā, Wai'anae, Waipahu, and/or Ewa Beach, locations. The SI/DS provider must be available to provide in-person services and attend virtual sessions/meetings. Enthusiastic, dedicated professionals are encouraged to apply.


Responsibilities/Duties:

The SI/DS will be part of a multidisciplinary team providing services using Primary Service Provider approach and coaching model to work with families in the home setting.

  • Conduct evaluations and write reports
  • Assist team with plan development
  • Provide consultation and coaching to families and other team members
  • Timely and accurate documentation
  • Participate in team meetings
  • Conduct in-person home visits
  • Conduct tele-practice visits per client discretion


Required Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Special Education
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Early Childhood/Child Development or Elementary with a focus on Early Childhood or Special Education
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree and licensed by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board with two years experience in Early Childhood, or has a 5th Year Teaching Certification with a focus on Early Childhood or Special Education

 

Other requirements of the position: Driver's license, and access to a car daily, and proof of vehicle insurance


Preferred Qualifications:

Of the qualifying criteria, candidates meeting one or more of these criteria will be highly preferred:

  • Master's degree in Special Education
  • Master's degree in Early Childhood/Child Development or Elementary with a focus on Early Childhood or Specialist Education
  • Master's degree and licensed by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board with two years' experience in Early Childhood, or has a 5th Year Teaching Certification with a focus on Early Childhood or Special Education.

Experience working with the pediatric population ages 0-35 months is highly preferred.


Physical Requirements:

The staff member will be required to drive to and from the office, and client homes, and community locations per client discretion, as well as operate electronic and computing equipment, and operate videoconference platform ZOOM to attend required meetings, and to facilitate therapy sessions via tele-practice per client discretion.


Work Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Generally 8am-430pm with occasional later afternoons or weekends required.
  • Manage your schedule allowing for required deadlines, team and staff meetings, and training.
