Master Operator (EA Drainage) – Labor Grade 117 / Pay Range: $26.84 - $37.83
SUMMARY
The Master Operator works under the direct supervision of the Supervisor III. The Master Operator is responsible for performing semi-skilled and skilled work for general maintenance of parish facilities and special projects including public works projects that may use all types of parish equipment including those requiring DOTD certification CDL - Class A. The work may be physically demanding in nature and sometimes involves the use of light mechanical equipment. This position differs from the Maintenance Technician IV in the skill level and flexibility of the position and ability to operate pump station equipment.
MAJOR DUTIES
· Able to work on location at the pump station and be able to operate all pump station equipment
· Able to operate all pieces of parish mechanical equipment and has the skill level to move between jobs
· Performs routine maintenance and troubleshooting on vehicles and equipment such as checking tires, gas, oil, and other lubricants; washing and cleaning; and ensuring that equipment is in proper working condition
· May perform tasks related to drainage and ditch maintenance including cutting and installing pipe, digging and clearing ditches, and clearing storm debris
· May perform tasks related to road maintenance and repair including setting up barricades, lights or flares at job sites; conducting traffic through job sites; patching asphalt, concrete, and gravel roads; loading and unloading trucks; spreading dirt and gravel; leveling earth to fine specification grades; and clearing roads of trash or debris
· In emergency situations, may be required to work at various locations, including, but not limited to, the parish owned pumping stations, sand bagging locations, parish roads and other locations as assigned
· Any other duties as assigned
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent and (5) years of directly related experience is required
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS – CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
· The incumbent is required to have a current, and the ability to maintain, state of Louisiana driver’s license.
· The incumbent is required to have a valid Louisiana CDL – Class A driver’s license upon appointment and is a continuing condition of employment.
· The incumbent is subject to a pre-employment physical and drug screens with random drug testing thereafter.
