Recreation Center Front Desk Attendant
JOB TITLE: Recreation Center Front Desk Attendant
DEPARTMENT: Facility
SUPERVISION: Facility/Rental Supervisor
PAY RANGE: $15-$17.50 per hour
GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Recreation Center Front Desk Attendant is responsible for the general secretarial and registration duties of the Recreation Center office and is directly responsible to the Facility/Rental Supervisor. The employee follows the overall goals and objectives, activities, services, policies and procedures as prescribed by the Executive Director upon policy approval by the Board of Commissioners. The employee is evaluated in terms of registration management, personnel management, cash control and quality of customer service.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to administer all functions of the office of the Recreation Center as required by the Facility/Rental Supervisor. Basic understanding of computer operations including, but not limited to: proficiency in word processing and data entry. Ability to follow directions and to work with limited supervision. Ability to use public relations techniques with customers and provide high quality customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Responsible for all phases of clerical work such as: filing park district paperwork, answering telephone, assisting customers, staff, & contractors
- Responsible for accepting, verifying, and processing of all program registrations.
- Maintain and balance cash drawer on a daily basis.
- Route mail and verbal or written messages to all staff.
- Assist program instructors with preparation of copies, equipment, etc.
- Contact participants for cancelled classes and wait lists.
- Assist renters with contracts and other questions pertaining to facility rentals
- Assist with checking in customers for daily facility use, including the playground, track and open gym. And general guest services.
- Attend training sessions and staff meetings when needed.
- Wipe down front desk counter and lobby island during your shift. during shift changes wipe down clear shield on front desk counter.
- Clean work space before and after shift.
- Keep count of wristbands for areas in recreation center and periodically check areas during shift to count patrons (playground, track & gymnasium).
- Become familiar with Park District programs, policies, and procedures in order to assist the public and provide them with accurate information.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Other
- Work at special events as needed.
- Learn and work independently in RecTrac software program within 60 days of job start.
- Provide excellent customer service in all areas of public contact.
- Adhere to Park District safety rules and procedures to exercise safe work practices.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Facility/Rental Supervisor.
Personnel Management:
- Follow all guidelines and task instructions as necessary.
- Fosters teamwork to address and accomplish the desired goals of the department and agency.
- Staff will be required to wear required PPE at any given time. This can be personal or Park District issued.
Customer Service:
- Ensure a high-quality customer service experience for Park District patrons and contractors.
- Maintain close contact with the population and patrons served.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Appropriately resolve concerns, problems, and emergencies that arise within limits and comfort level.
- Attend training sessions & workshops, as assigned.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
- Exhibit safe work habits while contributing in every manner possible the safety of themselves, co-workers, and the general public.
Psychological Considerations:
The Recreation Center Front Desk Attendant may feel stress from being held responsible for daily and numerous demands by staff and customers. This is a highly visible position with a great deal of public interaction. The Recreation Center Front Desk Attendant should respond to the needs of challenging individuals. He/She must maintain a positive approach to public service.
Physical Demands:
This position involves frequent sitting, walking, reaching, handling and keyboarding. It also involves occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling and crouching. This person should have the ability to lift 10-30 lbs.
Environmental Considerations:
There is a potential exposure to chronic infectious diseases.
Cognitive Considerations:
The Recreation Center Front Desk Attendant must exhibit good problem-solving abilities and good judgment in keeping with the mission of the Park District.
