Seasonal Education Aide

As a member of the Education Team, the part-time Seasonal Aide will work to support Seasonal Instructors in facilitating the Zoo’s education programs, with a primary emphasis on supporting after-hour and weekend programs. These programs may include Nocturnal Adventures, Twilight Trail Evening Camps, Overnights or Scouts and off-site programs or tabling events in the community.

All candidates must attend training before the start of work.

Pay Rate : 15 / Hour

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Support Seasonal Instructors with education programs for audiences of all ages as part of the Education team
• Support Seasonal Instructors with groups on hikes throughout the Zoo, hands-on activities, games, and singing
• Greet guests and program participants enthusiastically and provide information to enhance their visit
• Be familiar with all facets of the Zoo to answer questions accurately or know what resources to call upon to do so
• Contribute to a positive, energetic, and safe experience for program participants, colleagues and guests
• Assist Zoo Overnights and Nocturnal Adventures - remain at the Zoo after hours and occasionally overnight
• Must be available for a flexible work schedule and provide at least two weekends a month availability; Shifts may include weekends, weekdays, evenings, nights, and holidays
• Assist with program setup and breakdown
• All other responsibilities and tasks as assigned

Physical Requirements

This position requires sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping for extended periods. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. The employee must be able to lift and move 25 pounds and perform the job's essential functions satisfactorily, with or without accommodations.
