The Director of Rehabilitation is responsible for overseeing quality patient care and optimizing operational results within the Rehabilitation Department. This includes the development, implementation, and evaluation of therapy services, supervision of therapy staff, adherence to regulatory standards, and the integration of evidence-based practice to support patient-centered outcomes. The Director of Rehabilitation plays a critical role in strategic planning, resource management, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee daily operations of the Rehabilitation Services department to achieve high-quality patient care and effective team collaboration.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of all rehabilitation services, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy modalities.
- Works with the Regional Manager and Administrator to develop yearly budgets and effective controls on expenditures. Plans department staffing on the basis of patient need, projected income, and operating expenses.
- Treat patients and families with respect and empathy, addressing their needs and involving them in the development of care plans. Ensure the rehabilitation team creates and implements education plans for patients and families, evaluating learning outcomes to enhance patient engagement and adherence.
- Act as a liaison between patients, physicians, and interdisciplinary care teams to facilitate optimal outcomes.
- Stay updated with and implement new regulatory requirements; proactively adjust program policies and practices as needed.
- Monitor the quality and appropriateness of therapy services and documentation supporting services, ensuring alignment with evidence-based standards, billing, coding, and quality measures.
- Conduct facility reviews to confirm compliance with state licensure, reimbursement guidelines, and accreditation standards.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, advising management on policy updates and necessary changes.
- Support interdisciplinary initiatives and collaborate with other department leaders to drive comprehensive patient care programs and improve facility and department quality metrics.
You currently (Qualification):
- Active professional license in the state of practice as a Physical Therapist, Physical Therapy Assistant, Occupational Therapist, Occupational Therapy Assistant, or Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Prefer two (2) years of experience in rehabilitation services, with prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of CMS regulations, MDS assessment procedures, and the Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM).
