Job Overview: The VP of IT will be responsible for developing and executing the company’s technology strategy, overseeing the management of IT infrastructure, systems and applications that support operational and business goals. This role will focus on driving digital transformation, enhancing data security, optimizing IT operations, and leveraging technology to improve efficiency across the organization. The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking technology leader with experience in construction or real estate, capable of managing complex projects and leading a high-performing IT team.



Key Responsibilities:


  • IT Strategy & Planning: Develop and implement an IT strategy that aligns with the company’s overall objectives, focusing on digital transformation, operational efficiency, and business growth.
  • Infrastructure & Systems Management: Oversee the design, purchasing, implementation, and maintenance of the company’s IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, networks, and cloud solutions, ensuring high performance and reliability.
  • Asset Tracking and Documentation: Maintain an accurate inventory of all IT assets, including hardware and software licenses. Implement and manage asset tracking systems to monitor the lifecycle of IT assets from acquisition to disposal.
  • Cybersecurity & Data Protection: Establish and maintain robust cybersecurity practices, policies and tools to protect company data and systems from threats, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Application Development & Integration: Lead the implementation, integration and maintenance of applications to support all business functions.
  • Digital Transformation: Drive the adoption of new technologies to enhance business processes, improve productivity, and enable data-driven decision making.
  • Vendor & Budget Management: Manage relationships with IT vendors and service providers, negotiate contracts, and ensure alignment with project goals and budgets.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Build, mentor and lead the IT team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery: Develop and oversee disaster recovery plans and ensure effective backup and continuity solutions are in place.
  • Executive Collaboration: Partner with the executive team to provide proactive technology insights, ensure alignment with strategic goals, and identify opportunities for IT to support growth and operational improvements.
  • IT Help Desk: Continuously evaluate and improve help desk processes to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of the help desk operation. Oversee the incident management process, ensuring timely resolution of issues and effective communication with stakeholders. Ensure the help desk is equipped with the latest tools and technologies to support users effectively.
  • Representation: Identify and establish strategic partnerships with external organizations to enhance the company's reputation and influence within the industry. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the industry, including peers, regulatory bodies, and professional groups.


Skills and Competencies:

  • Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation abilities to secure cost-effective contracts and favorable terms with vendors.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Skilled in working with multiple departments to meet shared company objectives.
  • Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of IT systems, infrastructure, and emerging technologies. Strong understanding of data management, cybersecurity, and IT governance. Familiarity with software development, network architecture, and cloud computing.
  • Leadership and Management Skills: Excellent leadership and team-building abilities. Strong strategic planning and project management skills. Ability to manage IT budgets and resources effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Highly analytical mindset with superb problem-solving abilities. Ability to make data-driven decisions and manage risk effectively.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; Master’s degree or relevant IT certifications (CISSP, PMP, ITIL) are a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive IT experience, with at least 5 years in a senior IT leadership role, ideally within the construction or real estate industry.
  • Experience with cloud computing, virtualization, and data security best practices.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance, particularly as they pertain to data privacy and security.
  • Proven track record of managing IT teams and complex projects.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in an office setting, with occasional travel to job sites and supplier locations.
  • Capability to lift and carry materials or documents up to 25 lbs. as needed.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and computer use.
