CareersNOW Coordinator
Reports to: Director of Operations
Job summary: The CareersNOW Coordinator manages the CareersNOW program, which aims to provide students with essential skills for employment in trade industries. This role involves recruiting students, facilitating classes, and building strong relationships with staff, volunteers, community partners, and participants. While the current focus is on the construction industry, the program is expanding into other trade sectors in order to offer broader opportunities.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and implement recruitment strategies to engage potential candidates through social media and other outreach methods.
- Assists in developing recruitment materials to effectively communicate the program offerings.
- Initiate contact with potential students, conduct interviews, and assess their suitability based on work history, education, and skills.
- Collaborate with the Director of Operations to target new industries and develop curriculum for these areas.
- Facilitate classroom instruction using Jobs for Life and industry-specific curriculum.
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers for class instruction and mentoring.
- Maintain class registration, attendance, and performance records.
- Generate statistical data and reports, including data entry in ETO, to monitor and evaluate program activities and outcomes.
- Deliver presentations at various events to promote the CareersNOW program.
- Participate in community networking events to enhance the visibility of CareersNOW and Center of Hope.
- Attend and contribute to departmental and Center of Hope meetings and professional development activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or CEO.
Qualifications:
- Active involvement in a Christian church with personal life reflecting strong Christian principles.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency; legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Associate degree or higher preferred.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to guide individuals and teams to achieve meaningful goals.
- Effective engagement with volunteers and students from diverse socio-economic, ethnic, and educational backgrounds.
- Capability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel for reporting purposes.
Work week expectation:
· This is a part-time, non-exempt position of approximately 25 hours per week.
· The work week is Monday-Thursday; work hours will be flexible with day and evening hours required.
· Time spent representing Center of Hope or conducting other center business away from the main buildings shall be included in the hours of work listed.
Physical requirements of this position:
· Prolonged standing and walking, as well as sitting at a desk and using a computer
· Physically able to bend, stoop, and lift in order to facilitate job responsibilities noted above
· Must be able to routinely lift and move boxes, bags, and donated items weighing 10-40 pounds; must follow policies and procedures to receive, move, and distribute heavier items using appropriate equipment and designated safety protocols
· Vision and hearing must be sufficient to interact with other staff, volunteers, donors and participants and to carry out the responsibilities of the job as noted herein
