Parker Meggitt San Diego, CA – Sorrento, Energy Sensors & Controls is a leading supplier of small- frame gas turbine actuation systems and fuel metering valves for the oil and gas and power generation sectors. Energy capabilities center on enabling power plants to work at peak efficiency and safety, minimizing the worry of regulatory fines or customer dissatisfaction.

Position Summary:

The Materials Handler ensures proper and timely flow of all materials and products from arrival until stored or shipped, following established policies and procedures. Performs the physical or administrative tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, order fulfillment, storing and distributing of materials, parts, supplies and equipment, while following policies, procedures and safety regulations.

Essential Functions / Job Responsibilities:

  • Receives, stocks, and disburses parts, materials, and supplies to team members as required, including loading and unloading trucks.
  • Unpacks and checks incoming goods against purchase orders or invoices, inspecting boxes for damage and logging all received items.
  • Maintains records of received goods, rejects unsatisfactory items, and maintains shipping record files.
  • Examines inventory and distributes materials on manufacturing lines, ensuring proper stock levels.
  • Posts weights and shipping charges, prepares products for final shipment, and follows packaging procedures.
  • Prepares and maintains records of merchandise shipped and kitting packages for assembly production.
  • Demonstrates all safety policies and procedures, including observing ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) and safety practices.
  • Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is required, with the flexibility to work nights, weekends, overtime, and variable schedules as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  • 2 years of relevant experience

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities List:

  • Experience with ERP or data entry systems.
  • Picking and packing experience, along with cycle count experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in using hand tools and operating forklifts.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in completing assigned tasks.
  • Maintains and organizes the stores area and reports potential problems to management.
  • Makes suggestions for improvements and contributes to problem-solving.
  • Understands FIFO (First In, First Out) processes.
  • Availability to work overtime when required.

Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California, New York, Washington. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations.

The wage range for this role considers allowances for a number of factors, including but not limited to required experience, skill level, prior training, licensure/certifications, education, and other business needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $13.01 -$21.50 per hour.
