Job Description
Parker Towing Company is seeking a qualified Port Engineer to manage maintenance, repairs, and modifications for assigned ports and vessels. This role requires a strong working knowledge of marine mechanical and electrical systems, computer skills, and excellent problem-solving abilities.
The successful candidate will ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and company policies, promote a culture of safety onboard company vessels, and provide support for equipment inspections, vessel surveys, repairs, and dry dockings as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning, administering, and coordinating maintenance and preventative maintenance programs for an assigned group of vessels.
- Review and oversee shipyard repairs, overhaul, modification, and/or conversion of an assigned group of vessels.
- Conduct periodic inspections of vessels; provide written reports on findings and corrective action plans.
- Liaise with shipyards, equipment suppliers, classification societies, and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure all assigned vessels and barges operate within company operating policies and procedures.
- Travel to various ports of call to consult with vessel personnel regarding operating procedures, maintenance schedules, and safety requirements.
- Ensure compliance with company policies.
- Exercise authority, make independent decisions, and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines without sacrificing operational readiness.
- Analyze problems, reason, and make decisions regarding vessel repair.
- Interface with other vessel engineers, wheelhouse, clients, and equipment suppliers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
