Position Description
Communications and Outreach Specialist
Employed By: Board of Directors
Responsible To: Executive Director
Immediate Supervisor: Executive Director
The Communications & Outreach Specialist will create and lead a Marketing and Communications Plan that will elevate the visibility of the community foundation in the region. It is a part-time position averaging 25 hours per week. While there is some flexibility in scheduling, the position is substantially in person.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
· Maintain the Foundation’s marketing, communication, and outreach plan designed to increase the Foundation’s awareness and visibility with multiple audiences.
· Write newsletter articles and e-newsletter articles
· Manage and monitor the Foundation’s brand across all communication channels
· Maintain and develop the Foundation’s social media presence
· Work with Foundation staff to develop communication strategies that report information back to donors and donor advisors
· Develop and maintain communication strategies to potential grantee organizations; communicating grant opportunities, great deadlines, and funding priorities
· Oversee content creation, design, publication, and distribution of all print materials, such as newsletters, annual reports, brochures, and special event materials
· Take photos and/or videos at events and nonprofit site visits for use in Foundation communications
· Identify strategies to increase community foundation exposure to professional advisors
· Write press releases and work with Foundation staff to plan press events, grant receptions, donor events, and other public events as needed
· Assist Foundation staff by providing graphic design assistance as needed
· Lead the development, maintenance, and upkeep of the Foundation’s website
· Work with Foundation staff on maintenance of donor data and mailing lists
· Seek out opportunities for Foundation exposure such as service clubs, membership organizations, professional advisor offices, etc.
· Other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate will have experience in marketing, graphic design, public relations and a high proficiency in technology and database management. Candidate should be detail oriented and able to balance multiple projects at the same time. Excellent writing skills are also required.
