Pay Rate
- Starting - $17.58 per hour
- 6 Months - $19.29 per hour (with good performance)
- 12 Months - $19.54 per hour (with good performance)
- Job Max - $20.78 per hour (with merit raises)
Job Purpose
- This position performs a variety of manual and semi-skilled tasks in the operation, maintenance and construction of the water and/or sanitary sewer systems.
General Responsibilities:
- Performs multiple tasks in the construction and repair of the water and/or sanitary sewer systems, including but not limited to pipe laying, operating 90 lb pavement breaker, operating compaction equipment, pouring and finishing concrete, asphalt replacement, truck driving, routine equipment maintenance, lawn restoration
- Responsible for the safe operation and care of the equipment utilized in the performance of daily work
- Responsible for proper traffic safety
- Perform other duties as necessary
Qualifications:
- Willingness and ability to perform heavy manual work for an extended period under varying climatic conditions
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with fellow employees and the general public
- Ability to deal courteously with the public
Experience and Education:
- Experience in performing semi-skilled maintenance and/or construction tasks
- High school diploma or equivalent
Licenses and Certifications:
- Possession of a valid West Virginia Class A commercial driver’s license, or state of residence if other than West Virginia
Working Conditions
- Routine shift will be from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday thru Friday, but shall be required to work overtime when needed.
- The work required for this position shall be conducted both indoors and outdoors regardless of weather conditions.

- The ability to lift 75 pounds.
- The ability to move safely over uneven terrain.
- The ability to safely climb ladders and stairs multiple times daily.
- The ability to respond quickly to sounds.
- The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
- The ability to work in extreme weather.
- Ability to wear personnel protective equipment correctly, when required.

- This position has no supervisory responsibility.
