Job Summary: Responsible for monitoring and enforcing pool rules and policies while maintaining a safe, fun environment for both general pool patrons and swim lesson participants. Enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules, and regulations; recognize and respond quickly and effectively to all emergencies; inspect the facility for unsafe conditions and report; address parent questions and concerns in a positive service-oriented manner.
Monitor Summary: Be responsible for monitoring and enforcing pool rules and policies with members and their children during scheduled Family Swim hours. Monitors must be mindful of safety, cleanliness, and fun as well as to develop and maintain good relationships with family swim users. Responsible for set-up and clean-up of appropriate pool toys and equipment. Monitors must ensure that all pool users shower before entering the swimming pool in the appropriate gender locker room or the outside shower if available at the facility. Monitors will remain outside on the pool deck and maintain the visibility necessary to enforce the various rules. The pool monitor will also monitor the locker rooms and check on children as necessary. Ensure that all family swim announcements are made and report any incidents or concerns to the Club Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
§ Meet and greet all family swim users, parents and children, in a friendly and professional manner.
§ Be knowledgeable of all pool use, locker room and wet area policies and procedures. Offer helpful information to ensure that members understand how Family Swim works. Enforce policy as needed and be in accordance with procedures at all times.
§ Carefully monitor all young children who should be wearing swim diapers and kindly inform parents of the swim diaper policy. Assist in using the pool area appropriately if swim diapers are not available.
§ Maintain good relationships with Family Swim users. Be pro-active and problem solve in a win-win manner.
§ Communicate any information or concerns regarding Family Swim users to the Club Manager in a timely manner and follow-up as determined by the Club Manager.
§ Exhibit a genuine liking for the children and stay actively focused and involved.
§ Promote Family Swim special activities and Family Swim passes if available at the facility.
Daily Operations:
§ Set-up and clean up Family Swim pool toys, towels, and any trash left on pool deck.
§ Clean up includes: push back all lounge chairs in a line, with backs at the same angle, wipe down tables/chairs, empty all outside trash cans and wipe the outside of the cans, sweep deck as needed.
§ Perform all Family Swim announcements and assure swimmers compliance with announcements in a positive, win-win manner. Immediately report or seek assistance from the MOD as needed.
§ If there are only a few kids during Family Swim, clean pool, sweep deck and wipe chairs/tables during the shift instead of at the end.
§ Respond calmly and quickly to any and all safety issues. In case of emergency, respond appropriately, calling 911 when needed and seeking help from qualified staff.
§ Attend to any minor accidents or injuries; notify the MOD immediately and seek assistance from qualified staff. Complete an Incident Report located at the Front Desk and submit to a management.
§ Enforce all pool use, locker room and wet area policies.
Job Qualifications/Requirements/Certifications:
§ Attend all departmental and all-staff meetings and trainings.
§ American Red Cross certified in Lifeguarding and First Aid
§ Hold and maintain a current CPR/AED certification.
§ Be a team player, communicate with all staff to solve problems, and bring any unresolved issues to a club manager.
§ Know and abide by all pool, locker room and wet area and club policies and procedures regarding staff and members.
§ Speak English clearly, articulate rules and policies skillfully and in a friendly manner.
§ Ability to execute all lifeguard duties as required by American Red Cross certification.
§ Able to stand for up to 3 hours, walk and kneel as needed.
§ Able to be poolside out of doors and in the sun as required. Hats are allowed.

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
