Payroll Manager
Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000 Based on Experience

Parks Automotive Group needs to hire a Payroll Manager. This is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing and directing all payroll operations. This includes managing a team of payroll professionals and ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing for weekly, semi-monthly, and commission-based employees. In addition to technical expertise, the Payroll Manager serves as a leader, mentor, and influencer, committed to developing a high performing team, fostering cross-department collaboration, and ensuring a consistent, employee-centered payroll experience.
This position operates at the center of a fast-paced, high-volume, high-pressure environment, requiring exceptional organizational skills, strong analytical and critical thinking skills, exceptional attention to detail, and resilience. The Payroll Manager must consistently deliver results, maintain composure under tight deadlines, lead effectively, and provide clear direction to both their team and stakeholders throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of payroll specialists, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Set clear expectations, provide consistent coaching and feedback, and hold the team accountable for delivering timely, accurate payrolls.
- Act as a visible and influential leader, promoting Parks Automotive Group’s values and ensuring collaboration and alignment across payroll, HR, accounting, and dealership teams.
- Champion an employee-centered payroll experience that builds trust and reinforces Parks Automotive Group as an employer of choice.
Payroll Operations Management:
- Direct and oversee payroll processing for all employees, including:
- Weekly Payroll: Oversight of weekly payroll for hourly employees and flat-rate technicians, ensuring accuracy in timekeeping, flat-rate entries, and pay calculations.
- Semi-Monthly Payroll: Ensure accurate and timely payroll for salaried employees, including variable pay adjustments, draws, and deductions.
- Ensure payroll operations are executed on time, with precision, and in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Compliance & Audit Oversight:
- Stay current on payroll legislation and industry trends in a continually changing regulatory environment.
- Ensure strict adherence to all applicable labor laws, wage/hour rules, and tax regulations, including handling of garnishments, benefits deductions, and wage assignments.
- Lead internal payroll audits and prepare for external audits, ensuring absolute accuracy and adherence to Parks Automotive Group’s standards.
Process Improvement & Problem Solving:
- Analyze payroll processes regularly to identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements that streamline workflows and reduce risk.
- Leverage payroll systems and technology to automate manual tasks, improving accuracy and efficiency.
- Resolve complex payroll discrepancies, system issues, and employee concerns with urgency, professionalism, and discretion.
- Collaborate with Human Resources, accounting, dealership controllers, and leadership to improve integration between payroll and other business processes.
Communication & Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Serve as the primary liaison between payroll, Human Resources, accounting, leadership, and dealership controllers, fostering open communication and collaborative problem-solving.
- Effectively communicate payroll policies and procedures to employees and managers in a clear, approachable manner.
- Handle sensitive and confidential matters with the utmost discretion and integrity.
Core Competences / Qualifications/ Requirements – Payroll Manager:
- Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
- Automotive industry payroll experience highly preferred, with expertise in flat-rate technician pay and commission/draw structures.
- Deep understanding of payroll laws, compliance regulations, and wage/hour rules (FLSA, state laws, etc.).
- Proficiency in payroll and HRIS software (Paycom, Reynolds and Reynolds, or similar platforms) and Microsoft Excel.
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and partner with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to lead by example, build trust, provide clear direction, foster a supportive, collaborative environment and inspire excellence at every level of the organization.
