Position Summary
Plan, direct, manage and oversee the activities and operations of the Park Management Division of the Parks & Recreation Department including maintaining designated City, landscape and park facilities; coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, departments and outside agencies and provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Director.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in land management, agronomy, horticulture, or forestry; and
Eight (8) years of park management experience; and
To include five (5) years of supervisory experience.
Experience in turf management, irrigation/water conservation, horticulture and/or park plan review, design, building and renovation preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License or have the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) six (6) months from date of hire.

- Operations, service and activities of recreation facilities
- Principles and practices of program development and administration
- Principles of park management and facilities maintenance
- Principles and practices of municipal budget preparation and administration
- Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation
- Modern office equipment including computers and applicable software
- Principles of business letter writing and basic report preparation
- English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation
- Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations
- Principles and practices of Turf and grass maintenance as it relates to the climate, desert environment & intense park use
- Operation and public application of herbicides and pesticides
- Principles and practices of playground safety, inspections and record keeping
- Principles of irrigation installation, maintenance and operations of large scale systems
- The cultivation and care of Trees, including the diagnosis, treatment, prevention, planting and removal
- Principles and practices related to the installation and maintenance of large scale landscape environments
