What are the responsibilities and job description for the COTA/OTA position at Parkview Health?
Summary
Provides professional patient care by implementing and documenting occupational therapy treatment under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. Delivers care in accordance with the physician’s orders and the treatment plan developed by the Occupational Therapist. Utilizes a variety of therapeutic techniques and assistive devices to support patients in achieving maximum functional independence in all aspects of life. Follows an individualized treatment plan and collaborates with the supervising Occupational Therapist throughout the care process to ensure progress and update goals as needed. Educates patients, families, and caregivers on home exercise programs and strategies to support continued recovery post-discharge. Completes documentation and billing accurately and in a timely manner. All care is provided in compliance with hospital and rehabilitation department standards, the Indiana State Practice Act, the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), and Joint Commission regulations.
Education
Must have an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
Licensure/Certification
Must hold or be eligible for an Occupational Therapy Assistant license in the state where services are provided. State licensure must be obtained within 90 days of employment.

CPR certification is required within the first 90 days of employment.

Licensure and certifications must be maintained according to their expiration dates.

AOTA membership is preferred.

If driving a company vehicle, a valid driver’s license is required.

If using a personal vehicle, proof of insurance is also required.
Experience
Work experience preferred but not required, aside from clinical experience obtained through the educational program.
Other Qualifications
Must be able to lift 50 pounds and assist with up to 100 pounds; may be required to push/pull up to 300 pounds. Must be flexible and willing to work at various locations as assigned.
