Job Summary:
The Hospital Registrar performs a range of tasks related to patient registration, scheduling, and administrative support
Essential Functions:

- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors
- Interacts professionally with patients/families; treats patients and their families with respect and dignity
- Effectively and appropriately communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers, demonstrating customer service excellence through application of positive language principles, appropriate response and use of constructive problem-solving techniques which foster positive outcomes
- Greets visitors and patients with proper greeting and smile. Making them feel comfortable and welcome
- Accurately obtain personal and financial information to admit/register patients to the hospital’s various clinical departments or inpatient care
- Responsible for verification of insurance
- Input patient data into the hospital’s electronic health record (EHR) system, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
- Assign patients to appropriate departments or physicians based on their medical needs and appointment availability
- Collect co-pays, deductibles, and other out-of-pocket expenses from patients, providing receipts and financial information as required
- Schedule follow-up appointments, tests, or procedures for patients, coordinating with various departments to ensure availability
- Provide patients with necessary paperwork, including consent forms, privacy notices, and patient rights documents, ensuring they understand all information
- Assist in resolving patient concerns or complaints related to registration, billing, or insurance, referring complex issues to the appropriate department
- Coordinate with medical staff, and accounting staff to ensure all patient information is received and recorded accurately
- Perform clerical duties as assigned
- Maintains accurate and continued documentation. Documentation meets current standards and policies
- Assists in orientation and training of new staff/students as necessary
- Performs other reasonably related job duties as assigned or requested, within scope of practice
Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED), or equivalent, is preferred

Experience:
- Customer service occupation experience preferred.
- One year of related experience or other clerical experience in a hospital or medical office department, preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, highly desirable
