Job Title: Director of Children's Ministry (Part-Time)
Location: Parkway Presbyterian Church, Winston-Salem, NC
Reports to: Pastor
Job Summary: We are seeking a compassionate, creative, and spiritually-driven individual to join our congregation as the Director of Children's Ministry. This part-time role is focused on nurturing the faith and spiritual development of children within the PC(USA) tradition. The ideal candidate will be passionate about creating a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging environment for children to learn about God's love and grow in their faith.
Responsibilities:
- Program Development: Plan, develop, and implement a comprehensive children's ministry program, including Children’s Church and special events.
- Curriculum Management: Select and/or create age-appropriate curricula that align with PC(USA) values and teachings.
- Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and support volunteers to assist with children's ministry programs.
- Family Engagement: Foster relationships with families to encourage participation and support in children's ministry activities.
- Communication: Maintain regular communication with parents, congregation, and church leadership about children's ministry activities and events.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all programs and activities comply with church policies, including safety protocols and child protection guidelines.
- Spiritual Leadership: Serve as a spiritual mentor and role model for children and volunteers, promoting a Christ-centered approach to ministry.
- Additional Talents: Bring your unique gifts—such as music, drama, or arts—to enhance the children's ministry experience. Creativity and innovation are highly valued.
Qualifications:
- A strong personal faith and commitment to the teachings and values of the PC(USA) tradition.
- Experience in children's ministry or related fields.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with church staff, volunteers, and families.
- Creativity in developing engaging and educational programs for children.
- Background check and child protection training required.
Hours: Ten hours per week to be used for planning, Sunday mornings, and various special events Sunday nights or Saturdays.
Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience and additional skills brought to the role.
