What are the responsibilities and job description for the Litigation/Family Law Paralegal position at Parmenter Law?
Parmenter Law is actively seeking a full-time litigation and/or family law paralegal. Applicant will work primarily with the firm’s litigation and/or family law attorneys and clients. Applicant should be highly motivated, have strong communication skills, and be proficient in writing, grammar, and Microsoft Word and Excel. The candidate must also have exceptional customer service and organizational skills.

Essential Job Functions
• Connect and communicate with clients in a friendly and professional manner. Answer phone calls, manage initial client screenings, provide updates, explain the legal process, request information and documents, etc.
• Schedule and calendar appointments, reminders, hearings, trials, deadlines, and ensure client and appropriate parties receive proper notification.
• Communicate with various courts to obtain and schedule hearings.
• Knowledge of litigation and/or family law process, including but not limited to drafting and filing initial pleadings, such as summons, complaints, discovery, defaults, judgments, proof of service, various motions and proposed orders.
• Knowledge and understanding of how to calculate spousal support, uniform child support, and deviation addendums.
• Knowledge and understanding of how to e-file in various state and federal courts.
• Creating and organizing litigation files.
• Prepare files for hearings and/or trials.
• Basic knowledge of register of deeds, balance sheets, business records, and sworn statements.
Must Possess
• 3 years of civil litigation and/or family law experience.
• Excellent computer skills utilizing MS Word and related software, Outlook, PDF software, and file management systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and proofreading skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Must be self-motivated.
• Must be a self-starter.
• Ability to absorb information quickly and adapt to change.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Team player.
