What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outpatient Adult SUD Counselor position at Parrott Creek Child & Family Services?
POSITION OVERVIEW:
This is a substance use disorder counseling position that provides counseling in rural areas where clients don't regularly have access to treatment due to their location and circumstances. There is no billing and no insurance required. A program certified recovery mentor will be employed to assist this program on a part time basis. Must have CADC-1, CADC-2 or CADC-3.
The counselor assists clients in accessing resources and services that support their recovery. Complete assessments, develop services plans and provide treatment for clients in rural communities in Clackamas County as part of an outpatient drug and alcohol misuse program as part of Parrott Creek. By developing a client base through networking with community partnerships and marketing the community based program.

Principal Duties:
- Develop and implement, based on the assessment, individualized comprehensive treatment plans per Federal/State requirements for all clients assigned to caseload.
- Provide screening, evaluation, referrals, and complete intakes for all potential clients as per assigned.
- Create relapse prevention plans and transition out of treatment.
- Coordination to schedule recovery meeting events and outings.
- Outreach with out of state and in state agencies for continued care after discharge.
- Connecting clients with community SUD mentors.
- Referring clients and coordinating care to appropriate resources and level of care as ASAM recommended.
- Collaborating with mentors and clients to overcome barriers to treatment engagement
- Complete discharge and aftercare plan on all clients assigned to caseload prior to discharge from outpatient treatment and send discharge summaries to the referring agency within three working days after client’s discharge.
- UA collection and interventions.
- Staff meeting attendance and monthly supervision with the clinical supervisor.
- Coordination and monthly compliance reports with all treatment providers and legal referents.
- Work collaboratively with the program mentor.
- Maintain all client records in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Associates or higher education, preferred to be in addiction studies or other forms of counseling.
- Knowledge of chemical dependency issues and tools for recovery, such as community support groups and treatment facilities
- Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including the ability to motivate and engage difficult clients.
- Work cooperatively with a team and with outside agencies/community partners.
- Computer experience, proficiency with Microsoft Word preferred
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:
- CADC-1 CADC-2 or CADC-3
- At least one year’s paid experience as a chemical dependency counselor Experience working with youth and adults
- Must have your own vehicle, license and up to date car insurance. (mileage reimbursement is provided)
Duties are performed in the community, at times in the library conference rooms, agencies that are partnered with Parrott Creek or community facility settings
Position requires the ability to sit/stand for long period, use a computer for extended periods and life 35 pounds
