Role Description
This is a full-time role for a Metallurgical Technician / Welding Inspector located in Houma, LA, with some work required off site at customer locations. The role involves preparing test specimens, conducting metallurgical testing, monitoring and inspecting welding quality, operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, and documenting test results. On a daily basis, the technician will perform quality control checks, analyze test data, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Credentials, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Stable Work history of at least 2 years
- Current certification in welding inspection (AWS-CWI, or SCWI) is preferred, but an AWS-CAWI will be considered
- Some practical experience with or knowledge of Metallurgical Laboratory Equipment. Training will be provided to the selected individual.
- Ability to use machining tools (mill, lathe, saws, drills, grinders, etc., )
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Excel and Word)
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities
- High School Diploma or GED is required; Associate or Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or related field is preferred
- Ability or experience with developing welding procedure specifications and procedure qualification records.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods, some lifting and carrying is required (<50 lbs) for short distances.
- Ability and /or completed operator training to operate a forklift
- Ability and willingness to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as requested
- Must have a good driving record
