PROGRAM: Na Pono No Na ‘Ohana
REPORTS TO: Family Education Manager
JOB OVERVIEW:
Promote the Family Education program by providing child development education, resources, and support to caregivers through assessment, monitoring the program participants’ progress.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complete enrollment, intake and disenrollment of participants;
- Track participant’s attendance and progress;
- Assist program with welcome/resource table and attendance;
- Participate in the set-up and breakdown of Family Education sessions, sanitization of toys, supplies and mats;
- Meet weekly with the Family Education team for debrief to go over child observations, assessment reviews, lesson plans, home visits as needed and program implementation;
- Transport program vehicles to/from site.
- Administer and input Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test (PPVT), Hawaii State School Readiness Assessment (HSSRA), and Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ);
- Continually observe, document and track the development and growth of program participants through Work Sampling System (WSS) monthly and as needed in Quickbase;
- Administer and complete Caregiver Assessment Survey and Caregiver Cultural Survey;
- Input all assessments into data tracking system;
- Collaborate and/or provide Lead Teacher with activities, resources, and support that can be implemented into lesson plans to promote developmentally appropriate early learning experiences for young children;
- Collaborate and/or provide Home Education Specialist resources, and support that can be implemented into the home to promote developmentally appropriate early learning experiences for young children.
Other Duties:
Other duties as assigned include, but not limited to, attending staff professional development training, completing all forms and documentation such as reports related to grant objectives, conference/in-service evaluations, office and storage duties, van maintenance, and inputting daily logs/debriefs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Option 1:
- Associates degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field and at least one (1) year experience assisting in an early childhood education school setting; OR
Option 2:
- Committed to actively working towards one of the following:
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential in Infant/Toddler or Preschool or;
- Early Childhood Education Certificate of Competence (9 college credits) and;
- At least two (2) years experience assisting in an early childhood education school setting;
- Be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Publisher) and Google Drive;
- Have an understanding of Hawaiian culture and values;
- Have access to a vehicle, have a valid driver's license, a safe and responsible driving record, and current no-fault auto insurance with at least $100K in bodily collision per person and $25K in property damage liability.
Work Hours:
- Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or as otherwise determined by the supervisor;
- Position requires regular and predictable attendance;
- Attendance at some events on nights or weekends may be required.
Working Conditions:
- Office setting;
- Travel in personal and program van;
- Program, outdoor events, meeting and professional development sites;
- Travel to the neighbor islands or U.S continent may be required.

- Personal and program vehicles, hand truck, computer, laptop, laminator, shredder, printer/fax machine, speaker system, iPad, name tag maker, refrigerator, microwave, paper cutter, cricut, office phones, work cell phones/Bluetooth, camera equipment.

Physical:
- Participate in strenuous activities that may include loading and unloading vehicles; washing vehicles, mats, and tarps; setting up and breaking down tents, etc.;
- Participate in activities such as demonstrating activities, singing, and dancing;
- Lift and carry up to 40 pounds on a regular basis;
- Must be able to climb stairs, sit and work on the floor and desk; kneel and bend.
Communication:
- Exhibit courteous, respectful, and professional demeanor towards program participants, vendors, community partners, staff and administration via verbal, written, physical, and electronic correspondence;
- Must be able to verbally address participants individually or in groups;
- Possess good oral and written communication skills;
- Must be able to handle and maintain highly confidential information.
