Salary: $70,350 - $73,868 USD annually. Salary scales are determined by a Collective Bargaining Agreement. PartnersGlobal offers a competitive salary and benefit package.
This position is covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement between PartnersGlobal and the Office and Professional Employees International Union, Local 2, AFL-CIO.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Senior Grants Associate (Sr. Associate) supports the PxP Director of Grants (Director) in through the entire grants life cycle, including inception, awarding implementation, and closeout of all subaward activities for the Powered by the People (PxP) project in accordance with USAID regulations and with PartnersGlobal’s policies and procedures.
PxP provides direct and accessible support that addresses the needs, opportunities, and challenges identified by activists and other allied civic actors engaged in nonviolent collective action. PxP strengthens the agency, resiliency, and efficacy of activists and people-powered nonviolent social movements (NVSMs) that advance human rights, social justice, democracy, and inclusive development within a cohesive global social movement ecosystem.
Under the direct supervision of the Director, the Sr. Associate will provide administrative and operational support to facilitate grant-management efforts, including due diligence, grantee vetting, compliance, timely submission of grantee deliverables, and file keeping. Additionally, the Sr. Associate will support the design and lead the regular maintenance of sub awarding data. They will conduct, at the direction of the Director and in close collaboration with other senior leaders on PxP, requisite analysis, forecasting, and relevant briefing documents as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administrative & Operational Support: Provide the Director with administrative and operational support, including calendar and email management, as well as coordination of meetings and events.
- Communication Support: Draft and edit internal and external communications, correspondence, and presentations for team members, partners, and communities throughout the grant lifecycle.
- Grant Process Assistance: Support the grant review process by preparing materials, attending meetings, and assisting with the investment committee.
- Logistics & Event Coordination: Provide logistical support for grantee events and meetings, ensuring smooth coordination.
- Research & Analysis: Research and analyze information related to grant applications, partnerships, and grantees; compile reports and updates as needed.
- Database Management: Manage the CRM, ensuring timely and accurate updates. Share relevant information with team members to surface connected opportunities.
- System Support: Assist with the onboarding of a new grants management system.
- Inquiry Management: Serve as an additional point of contact for general inquiries related to grantmaking and partnerships, ensuring compliance with organizational standards.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborate with team members across departments to ensure transparency and alignment on expectations.
- Special Projects: Manage special projects and systems related to grants management.
- Grants Package Development: Assist in developing grant packages, reviewing concept papers, and ensuring compliance with USAID and Palladium regulations.
- Grantee Assessments: Support financial and internal control assessments of grantees.
- Monitoring & Compliance: Assist in monitoring funded projects, ensuring compliance with grant terms, collecting data, and maintaining records.
- Budget & Expense Tracking: Assist in managing grant budgets, tracking expenses, and working with finance teams to ensure proper fund allocation.
- Grants Administration: Provide administrative support throughout the grant process, including maintaining grant calendars, organizing documentation, and coordinating communications.
- Database Maintenance: Maintain a comprehensive grants database, tracking milestones, requirements, and outcomes for reporting purposes.
- Collaboration: Work with program managers, finance teams, and PxP leadership to align grant-related activities.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the Director or PxP leadership team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
- 2-4 years related experience in supporting global development initiatives, with demonstrated engagement in grant making and administration activities projects.
- Basic knowledge of grant making combined with budgeting, financial analysis, and quantitative data analysis.
- Basic knowledge of U.S. government acquisition and assistance regulations, including the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and 2 CFR 200.
Core Competencies:
- Strong English communication, comprehension, interpersonal, and public relations skills to enable professional interaction with a range of people including senior management and staff, partners, and other stakeholders.
- Negotiation and creative solution finding skills are essential for this role.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality, with sharp attention to detail, in a fast-paced work context.
- Well-developed keyboard and computer skills with an advanced working knowledge of MS Office, internet, and email applications.
- Experience with project management platforms (i.e., Monday.com, Trello etc.), as well as asynchronous communication applications required.
- Knowledge and competency in one or more of Partners’ program areas (e.g., organizational development, conflict resolution, civil society, good governance and rule of law, human rights, women’s empowerment) preferred.
- Experience working hybrid (dispersed teams), with a high degree of self-management is extremely important.
- A strong desire and personal commitment to social justice; driven to explore and address pressing social issues; and exposure to progressive and/or justice-oriented philanthropy is a plus.
Education and Language:
- A Bachelor’s/College Degree in any field; Preference for degrees in international relations, regional studies, or related subject pertaining to international development, peacebuilding, etc.
- Full professional fluency in written and spoken English.
- Professional fluency in French, Arabic, Russian, or Spanish considered a plus.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Candidates Must reside within commuting distance from our Washington, DC headquarters.
- The position requires a minimum of two (2) days per week in-office, the remainder of work week remote.
