Partnership Academy has a strong commitment to culturally and developmentally relevant instruction for all students. Through a highly collaborative culture, Partnership Academy educators work in teams to provide differentiated and hands-on instruction using a co-teaching model, with some additional focused instruction for language newcomers. Our Multilingual Learner program’s name comes from the belief that our English learners will both preserve their native language skills and identities while developing English language proficiency.
The Multilingual Learner teacher teaches small groups 40% of their time and co-teaches in ontent area classes for another 60% of their time using best practices from Hamline University’s English Learners in the Mainstream (ELM) framework. Multilingual Learner teachers are part of the department that works together to facilitate stat testing and notifications for language services.
Partnership Academy requires its teaching staff to constantly improve their instruction in ways that directly impact students’ academic, linguistic, social, and emotional growth, and the Multilingual Learner teacher is a critical member to support these efforts. We are looking for an educator who can collaborate effectively to provide excellent scaffolding, support, and instruction in reading, writing, listening, and speaking in English across content domains, as well as stay highly engaged with collaborative teaching and mentoring systems of support. Multilingual teachers at Partnership Academy may deliver professional development and support other teachers in using best practices.
Teachers in this position must also ensure they implement core curriculum and create innovative lesson plans that support Minnesota state standards and WIDA language standards, collaborate with teachers and support staff, effectively collect and interpret data to guide instruction, provide individualized instruction based on student needs, partner with families and guardians to support students, and establish a strong culture of learning.
Qualifications:
Spanish speaker preferred but not required
Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse students
Minnesota Teaching License, with preference for candidates with ESL licensure (ability to apply for a Tier 1 or 2 license for candidates with related experiences)
