What are the responsibilities and job description for the Literacy Consultant position at Partnerships for Literacy and Learning?
Partnerships for Literacy and Learning is seeking part-time literacy consultants to provide support and consultation in literacy to our partner schools. The candidate will have a strong background in literacy and coaching for classroom teachers, administrators, and school systems, as well as knowledge of the VTmtss Field Guide. PLL Consultants provide dynamic support and facilitation to teachers, schools, and districts to develop their capacity to sustain literacy improvement efforts for student success. A deep knowledge of pedagogy, adult learning theory, literacy instruction, and the nature of change within a complex educational system is required. PLL seeks literacy consultants who demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills, can facilitate effective team collaborations and problem-solving processes, and work with schools within the VTmtss Framework.
Position Requirements
Master’s Degree in Education or Related Field
Five years of relevant teaching or education-related leadership/coaching experience, or a combination of education and experience with comparable knowledge
Deep knowledge of the educational system, best practices in literacy instruction and pedagogy and the ability to communicate that knowledge to others
Citizenship, residency, or work visa
Position Responsibilities
Work closely with schools on identifying their needs, priorities, and action planning
Provide professional learning to schools/districts, e.g., workshops, meeting facilitation, seminars, courses, presentations etc.
Provide responsive consultation, facilitation, and/or coaching to participating teachers according to their needs
Develop leadership systems to sustain the improvement efforts
Assess school and district progress through the use of established progress monitoring tools, communicate findings to partners
Work closely with other consultants and the Executive Director to develop systems for communication and collaboration
Participate in data collection, data analysis, reporting, and presentation of findings
Collaborate with the PLL team about approaches, tools, and opportunities needed to move support partner schools and districts towards their goals.

Salary : $12,000 - $44,500
