The Medical Biller I role includes specialized clerical/bookkeeping work involving the application of accounting principles in the keeping of fiscal records, accounts receivable, medical billing in the project tracking system.
Essential Job Functions
Reviews and interprets Patient Care Reports (PCR) for the input of billing using RescueNet Software. Enters charges based on policy outline by County Fee Schedule. Assigns proper medical codes defined in the ICD9/10 coding manual based on the medical narrative and enters the information according to the different needs of the various insurance carriers including Medicare, Medicaid, etc. Verifies insurance coverage. Telephones, writes, or electronically communicates with insurance company to verify coverage and to obtain information. Performs typing of correspondence, reports, memoranda, forms, and records. Answers questions regarding statements and insurance coverage. Telephones or writes companies with unpaid insurance claims. Enters payments from electronic remittance downloads, check copies and EOB's. Identifies and interprets data to be entered. Ability to maintain HIPAA compliance. Performs related work as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and procedures.
- Ability to acquire knowledge of the rules and regulations relative to accounting records.
- Ability to operate office machinery to include a computer terminal and a PC (Relevant software includes: Microsoft Office products: Word, Outlook, Excel, Medical Billing Software).
- Ability to make mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the general public.
Minimum Requirements
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.
