JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for training and compliance of transportation staff with a focus on special needs students to promote safe and efficient transportation services for the District, in accordance with federal, state, local, and District policies and procedures.
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) from an accredited institution
- Five years' experience working with student transportation services, which must include experience driving a school bus; OR
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position
- Possess or obtain a Third Party Commercial Driver License Tester certificate within twelve (12) months of employment; scheduled into the first available class after employment.
- Valid and current Florida Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B, with a School Bus Endorsement 'S', and Passenger Endorsement 'P' or able to attain within 6 months of employment
- Must maintain a driving record that meets the standards of the District Safe Driver Plan. Driver's license must be maintained as a condition of continued employment
- Medical Examination Report for Commercial Driver Fitness Determination
OTHER QUALIFICATION
- All hires must meet the physical requirements of the Post Offer Employment Testing (POET).
- All hires must pass the pre-employment drug screening according to the Federal Omnibus Transportation Employees Testing Act (OTETA).
- All hires must meet dexterity and reflex requirements according to Pasco County Schools.
- All hires must submit to and pass an initial drug test and subsequent random drug tests in accordance with the requirements of Florida Statute 112.0455 and the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.
- Associate degree from an accredited institution in the field of Transportation and Logistics, or related field
- Eight years' experience working with student transportation services, which must include experience driving a school bus
- Florida School Bus Operator Trainer certificate
- Commercial Driver License Tester Train the Tester certificate
- Two years' previous training experience
- Instructor, Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA)
- Certified Instructor, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/ First Aid (FA)
