What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plans Examiner Supervisor position at Pasco County?
- Knowledge of Florida Building Code and fire codes.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of structural, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical trades.
- Knowledge of general construction methods and procedures.
- Ability to read, interpret, and evaluate structural, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical details of construction plans against code requirements and accepted construction practices.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with County officials, contractors, architects, property owners, and the public.
- Ability to plan, organize, train, assign, supervise, and inspect the work of subordinates.
- Ability to enforce regulations with firmness and tact.
- Ability to use a computer.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited College or University with a Bachelor's' Degree in Architecture, Building Construction, or a related field and five (5) years experience as an architect, engineer, contractor, building inspector, plans examiner, or supervisor of construction in the building construction trades OR an Associate degree and seven (7) years of experience as an architect, engineer, contractor, building inspector, plans examiner, or supervisor of construction in the building construction trades OR graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and ten (10) years of experience as an architect, engineer, contractor, building inspector, plans examiner, or supervisor of construction in the building construction trades. Four (4) years of experience in the capacity of a building inspector or plans examiner. Three (3) years of supervisory experience required.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license. Standard Certification in accordance with Chapter 468, Florida Statutes, as a Building Plans Examiner required.
