Hourly Range: $21.36 - $33.63
Starting Hourly Pay: $21.36 (Non-exempt position)

Hours:  8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Reports to:  Tangible Personal Property Supervisor

General Description: The Pasco County Property Appraiser's Office proudly serves one of Florida's fastest-growing counties in a time of unprecedented expansion and investment.  We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative individual to join our Tangible Personal Property Department. The ideal candidate for the Tangible Personal Property Specialist role will have comfortable handling complex clerical tasks while learning fundamental appraisal functions related to the preparation and certification of the countywide tax roll.  This position operates within a professional office setting, where service excellence is central to all interactions, both with the citizens we serve and the colleagues we support. 

The Tangible Personal Property Specialist will independently manage tasks the require precision, efficiency and the discretion.  Responsibilities include reviewing and auditing tangible personal property returns, utility sites and other related materials to determine taxable value in compliance with Florida Department of Revenue guidelines. Maintains an accurate record of all businesses within the county, ensuring each business receives a Tangible Personal Property Tax Return.  Identifies new businesses and tracks changes such as sales, closures or other business adjustments using available information sources. Enters asset data from Tangible Personal Property Tax Returns into the CAMA system, verifying additions or deletions of assets as reported. Sets up new accounts and updates tax roll information regularly, while processing related correspondence. Calculates Tangible Personal Property values based on information provided in the tax returns using the CAMA system, investigating any incomplete or questionable returns. Conducts field inspections and detailed desk audits (when necessary) to verify accurate reporting of Tangible Personal Property. Handles telephone inquiries from the public and county agencies with clarity and professionalism. Assists business owners, agencies, and staff with filing Tangible Personal Property Tax Returns and qualifying for exemptions. investigates and responds to inquiries from business owners or their legal representatives, explaining valuation methods, procedures, and policies. Schedules inspection appointments as required. Stays updated on Florida Statutes, appraisal methods, and office policies to ensure compliance and accurate processing. Completes assigned projects or duties efficiently and within set deadlines. Performs routine office tasks such as researching, filing, and scanning documents to support department operations. Collaborates with other government agencies as necessary for information sharing or resolution of issues. Retrieves information and maintains records, ensuring accurate and organized documentation. Performs calculations and tabulations with accuracy and efficiency. Types forms, memoranda, and letters, preparing them for mailing as needed. Handles incoming mail, sorting, distributing, and responding in a timely manner.
  • Familiarity with tangible personal property and related valuation processes.
  • Understanding of general accounting and bookkeeping principles and practices.
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting financial statements and related data for analysis.
  • Strong ability to multitask and efficiently organize work to meet deadlines and priorities.
  • Accuracy in entering data into computer databases, ensuring integrity and completeness of information.
  • Competent in performing semi-routine tasks, following established technical procedures and guidelines.
  • Capable of working independently or collaboratively within a team, demonstrating sound judgment and
  • professionalism.
  • Ability to interact respectfully and courteously with both the public and colleagues.
  • Proficient in performing mathematical and statistical calculations accurately and efficiently.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, in professional and public-facing interactions.
  • Proficient in operating computers and using the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, for data analysis
  • and reporting.

PHYSICAL SKILLS: Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication. Comfortable withprolonged desk work, including extensive computer use.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. At least two (2) years
of experience in auditing, basic accounting, inventory management, personal property appraisal, or a related field.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS: Possession of a Certified Florida Evaluator designation, or the ability to obtain this certification within two
(2) years of the start date. A valid driver's license is required.
