The Technical Analyst II - Public Safety assists in the support of the technical equipment, production applications, and services in support of Public Safety information technology services. Works closely with Public Safety Team members, contracted vendors, systems technician, and other outside agencies as necessary to ensure proper operations of all systems. This position reports to the Public Safety Support area of Information Technology. Interfaces with departmental users and Constitutional Offices to maintain applications and services. Troubleshoots and support all technical systems and software used in or by Public Safety agencies and partners. Develops and maintains systems documentation. Keeps concise records for inventory and user management. Must be detail oriented, keep abreast of current technology, follow established standards, and makes suggestions for improvement. Performs software changes and updates, ability to manage active directory accounts and policy, perform security investigations and multi-task complex situations between operational and production support. Assist with Public Information requests through the preparation of reports and statistics as necessary. Performs desktop support functions to include user level troubleshooting and imaging of new PCs/laptops. Performs troubleshooting and maintenance of dispatch console furniture. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. Performs other related work as required. Successful applicants will be an after-hours point of contact for troubleshooting software and systems operations. Those selected for this position will be required to work a flexible work schedule and may need to report for duty after-hours, on weekends, and on holidays as necessary to meet the needs of the department.
- Understanding of each of the following technologies: UPS management and power systems; GIS and mapping software and management; firewall and internet security; and P25 land mobile radio (LMR) systems.
- Ability to use tools and utilities to help in support role.
- Ability to create support documentation such as network workflows and troubleshooting procedures.
- Knowledge and hands-on use of common commercial and open-source Information Technologysupport tools.
- Knowledge of methodologies, tools, standards, and procedures.
- Ability to work independently as well as a team player.
- Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with vendor partners and stakeholders.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field and two (2) years of experience in development and maintenance of network, communications, or desktop computing environments OR graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate degree and four (4) years of experience in development and maintenance of network communications, or desktop computing environments and Microsoft Certified System Engineer or CCNA or equivalent technical certificate OR graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and six (6) years of experience in development and maintenance of network communications, or desktop computing environments and Microsoft Certified System Engineer or CCNA or equivalent technical certificate. Experience in managing/administrating the following; Microsoft Windows Operating Systems; Microsoft Windows Servers; Microsoft SQL; VOIP telephone systems; Mobile communications required. Experience in VMWare, Cisco, and Citrix are preferred.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license. Microsoft Certified System Engineer or CCNA or equivalent technical certificate is required, if the applicant does not have a Bachelor's Degree.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have current FCIC/NCIC certifications or be able to successfully complete the certification within ten (10) days of employment. FDLE fingerprint background check will be required prior to employment.
