The Behavioral Health Technician I (BHT I) provides case management duties such as conducting transports, coordinating meetings, identifying and connecting clients to community resources, conducting educational programs, monitoring and documenting behavior and conducting outreach activities. The BHT I will also have professional development opportunities to enhance their case management and clinical skills.
  1. Perform case management activities, such as assessing patient eligibility for benefits programs, consulting with other departments and agencies to coordinate care for patients, and participate in staff meetings to determine best treatment for patients.
  2. Assist in conducting educational programs; monitor topics, and provide input into structure of group.
  3. Document important information in charts and assist in charting client progress.
  4. May be required to transport clients to appointments and program related activities.
  5. Maintain confidentiality of information.
  6. Participate on the Treatment Team Review Meetings (TTR) and as a member of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team, and TMDR
  7. Perform clerical duties such as copying, filing, faxing documents, answering phones, and scheduling appointments.
  8. Provide input on individual clients to larger counseling team, the information is used for developing and monitoring treatment plans.
  9. Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as requested by supervisor or director.
Additional Focus Area Duties and Responsibilities:
Specialized functions for Yoeme Kari may include:
  • Assist residents learn and develop life skills by supervising and participating in daily house routines, including preparing meals;
  • Assist in orienting and introducing new residents to the group home;
  • Responsible for general housekeeping of the premises; including staff offices;
  • Assist in planning recreational outings for clients.
Specialized functions for Men's Path may include:
  • Responsible for maintaining daily bed count log, drafts incident reports and provides requisite documentation in client files;
  • Responsible for assisting clients with weekly menu planning, shopping budget and weekend/holiday activity schedules;
  • Requires knowledge of addictions, theories and treatment methods, with emphasis on populations of poverty, Native American populations and gender issues;
  • Basic understanding of the Twelve Step Program.
Specialized functions for Child's Team may include:
  • Responsible for setting up respite placement of children;
  • Responsible for monitoring children in a contracted placement;
  • Coordinates the CSP staff meetings.
Specialized functions for Sewa Uusim may include:
  • Responsible for setting up and conducting family Wraparound Meetings;
  • Responsible for conduction Life Skills groups with Youth and Young Adults;
  • Conduct Special Summer/Winter and School Break activities;
  • Conduct outreach, early intervention services.
Knowledge of:
  • Applicable theories and principles related to area of assignment;
  • Applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations;
  • Record keeping techniques;
  • HIPAA requirements of behavioral health;
  • Yaqui culture, customs, resources and traditions and/or a willingness to learn.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Interpret and apply applicable laws, rules, and regulations;
  • Respond to and resolve conflict;
  • Compile and report data;
  • Operate a variety of office equipment, including a computer and related software applications;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, supervisor, management, Council members, and the public. Have ability to sufficiently exchange or convey information and receive verbal and written work instructions.
High School Diploma or GED and six (6) months experience in a group home or behavioral health setting; and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
AND
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver?s License;
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred but not required.
Special Requirements:
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications or able to obtain within ninety (90) days of hire. Failure to maintain a current CPR and First Aid Certification may result in termination.
  • Positions located at the Yoeme Kari Group Home and Men's Path requires the applicant to be at least 21 years old.
  • This position may be required to work non-traditional hours, nights, and weekends.
  • Must have a current Level 1 Arizona Clearance Card. Failure to maintain a current Level 1 Clearance Card will result in termination.
