What are the responsibilities and job description for the Groundskeeper I position at Pascua Yaqui Tribe?
The Groundskeepers I performs unskilled and semi-skilled landscaping duties for the Tribal Government grounds.
AND
Special Requirements:
- Responsible for assisting in the overall maintenance of landscaped areas throughout Tribal Government facilities and grounds.
- Provide general care of trees, shrubs, flowers, and grass.
- Maintain irrigation drip systems; removes trash and debris for assigned areas.
- Note any damage or hazards, repair minor damage and correct hazardous conditions.
- Remove weeds from planted areas; treat, condition soil, and plant in accordance with established schedules.
- Replace defective or broken drip system heads, remove obstructions from drip system components and make minor adjustments to valves, heads and controls.
- Operate power mowers, chain saws, power clippers, rollers, spreaders, and similar equipment.
- Provide burial services for the community.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as requested by supervisor or director.
Knowledge of:
Skills and Abilities:
No specific education or experience required, must be able to read instructions.- Yaqui culture, customs, resources and traditions and/or a willingness to learn.
Skills and Abilities:
- Plant, cultivate and care for shrubs and flowers and/or a willingness to learn;
- The use of equipment and tools of the trade and/or a willingness to learn;
- The proper application of chemicals and/or a willingness to learn;
- Use hand and power tools and equipment effectively and safely;
- Work outside in varying weather conditions;
- Handle exposure to chemical fumes, loud noises, and heights;
- Operate a variety of office equipment, including a computer and related software applications;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, supervisor, management, Council members, and the public. Have ability to sufficiently exchange or convey information and receive verbal and written working structions.
AND
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Special Requirements:
- Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License;
- This position may be required to work non-traditional hours, nights, and weekends;
- Must have a current Level 1 Arizona Clearance Card, or be able to obtain one within ninety (90) days of hire. Failure to maintain a current Level 1 Clearance Card will result in termination.
