Job Description

Job Title : Groundskeeper Status : Non-Exempt

Department / Location : Holy Hope Cemetery / Tucson, AZ

Status : Full time

Primary Function : Under the direction of the Director, Grounds Superintendent, or other assigned manager, is responsible for performing a variety of grounds keeping duties including light maintenance and custodial duties The Employee shall be a minister of the Gospel and Catholic Teaching both academically and behaviorally while at work and in his / her personal life , "...Live in a manner worthy of the call you have received." (Eph. 4 : 1)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Support the Diocese of Tucson and the Church's spiritual and pastoral mission.
• Shall abide by Catholic principles in the employee's professional and private life and shall govern his / her professional and private life in strict accordance with Catholic morals and principles to demonstrate complete adherence to Catholic moral strictures.
• Perform grounds keeping and custodial duties to include cleaning of cemetery grounds.
• Maintain grounds equipment in a functional condition; oversee and recommend replacement of equipment as necessary.
• Keep grounds neatly manicured to include keeping lawns and shrubbery in a presentable condition.
• Update and maintain ongoing records of grounds maintenance performed. This includes vehicles, tractors, and other equipment.
• Maintain an updated inventory of equipment and supplies used; be accountable for their security.
• Maintain supply of cleaning equipment and supplies; maintain an inventory of all equipment and supplies; account for all inventory and equipment.
• Comply with chemical handling laws and safety regulations as required.
• Maintain a safe working environment.
• Adheres to safety first - wearing appropriate gear (hardhat) and other protective clothing and equipment when mandated.
• Maintain security of buildings, equipment, and tools.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical / Mental Requirements : Requires coordination and manual dexterity, normal mental and visual ability; ability to lift as required in a normal grounds-keeping and custodial environment.

Required Activities : Walking; sitting; standing; stooping; reaching, talking; handling; hearing; carrying; climbing ladders as required in a ground keeping capacity.
