Position Title : Business Development Manager
Department : Sales
Location : Schaumburg, IL
Reports to : Sales Manager, President
General Position Summary
This position directly supports the sales of organization's products in North America and provides ongoing support for the product's distribution channels. This position is also responsible for coordinating with customer management, staff, departments, or facilities to implement and support those activities and keep a good relationship between those parties. The Business Development Manager is expected to both support the sales manager and be able to perform the below critical functions.
Essential Job Functions
Sales Promotion and Marketing - 50%
- Analyzes marketing and new business opportunities by identifying customer demands, market requirements, competitor's share, price level, and their strength and weaknesses.
- Defines new business opportunities and work with the sales manager to set business objectives for both existing and new accounts.
- Accomplishes defined business objectives by planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating.
- Coordinates and executes marketing activities such as exhibiting at trade shows.
- Act as primary contact between America and Japan regarding new product development and marketing.
Business Planning - 30%
Makes annual sales and gross profit budget for new business segments.Analyzes the budget trends and plans vs. results and reports to upper management.Achieves planned budget by establishing pricing strategy, monitoring costs, managing programs or projects; analyzes variances and initiates corrective actions.Makes mid-term business plan by projecting expected sales volume and profit for new products or programs; analyzes and reports to management.Manage and Supervise - 10%
Helps to advise and support the employees of the sales department regarding business development by orientating, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, and counselling.Help provide educational material or training to sales staff regarding new products and projects.Support the sales department employees' work to prevent critical issues or delays.Other & Miscellaneous - 10%
Seeks constant improvement (Kaizen), more efficient and less expensive ways and means in work processes.Performs special projects and other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the sales manager, President, or other upper management members.Follows up to complete any assigned work.Maintains high ethical standards in the workplace.Reports all irregular issues and problems to management with a proposed solution.Maintains good communication with management, staff members and outside contacts.Complies with all company policies and procedures.Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working area.Reports to work daily (M-F) based on company schedule and complies with all company policies and procedures.Minimum Qualifications
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Work Experience Requirements
Minimum 5 - 10 years of prior work experienceSupervisory Responsibilities
Responsibly to guide and coordinate sales team as it pertains to business development related activities.Certificates / Licenses / Training Requirements
