Key ResponsibilitiesTax Compliance & Planning
- Manage and oversee federal, state, and international tax filings, including preparation, review, and submission of supporting documentation.
- Monitor and interpret tax law changes to ensure compliance and identify tax optimization opportunities.
- Develop and execute strategies for managing tax audits and inquiries.
- Work closely with external tax advisors to enhance tax efficiency and compliance across the organization.
- Continuously evaluate and refine tax reporting processes for greater operational accuracy and efficiency.
- Develop and implement internal tax compliance policies and awareness programs to mitigate company-wide tax risks.
- Support M&A tax due diligence and contribute to tax-efficient structuring of business transactions.
- Supervise and mentor tax staff, providing technical guidance, training, and performance feedback.
- Partner with the VP of Tax to ensure a seamless leadership transition, progressively assuming additional responsibilities over time.
- Maintain open communication with internal teams, external advisors, and leadership to ensure smooth tax operations.
- Provide regular updates and reports to the EVP, ensuring leadership is well-informed of key tax matters.
- Stay current on industry trends, tax regulations, and best practices through professional development activities.
- Uphold high ethical standards and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- 7-10 years of professional tax experience, including a combination of public accounting and corporate tax departments focusing on corporate and partnership income tax reporting, research, and planning.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Taxation (Required)
- Master’s degree in Taxation (Preferred)
- CPA license (Preferred)
- Expertise in corporate and partnership taxation, tax research, and financial accounting.
- Proficiency in tax software (e.g., Onesource Income Tax, Sage Fixed Asset Software) and tax research tools.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., complex spreadsheets, database functions).
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Operational Oversight: Effectively assign, monitor, and ensure completion of tax-related tasks, holding the team accountable for performance.
- People Management: Foster a collaborative team environment, support skill development, and provide constructive feedback.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Build strong relationships with internal teams and external partners to enhance tax strategies and execution.
- Policy & Procedure Development: Establish and enforce tax-related policies and procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all organizational levels and with external stakeholders.
- Work is primarily sedentary, but may involve light lifting (up to 15 lbs.) for office organization.
- Minimal business travel required.
- May occasionally need to work outside standard business hours (e.g., meetings with Japan-based parent company).
- Must be fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
