The Student Support Services (SSS) Classic Program is seeking a tutor / mentor. Preference will be given to students who have earned a B or better in college level math and science courses. As a tutor, you will work with fellow participants to improve their math courses. Tutors are expected to work one-on-one and / or in small groups assisting students. The tutor / mentor should have strong interpersonal and communication skills to support participants in the program. It is the tutor / mentor's primary responsibility to serve as a role model for students while supporting them through individual and group meetings toward their success.
This is a part time hourly position.
Example of Duties :
- Possess basic technical computer knowledge.
- Must be dependable, organized, and pay attention to details.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality, follow through on directions and complete assigned work in a timely manner.
- Must maintain a professional interactive and / or telephone manner, possess respectful verbal communication with both staff and students.
- Provide students with positive and constructive feedback.
- Create a professional and welcoming environment for our students.
- Conduct check-in meetings with mentees monthly.
- Provide mentees with campus resources and make appropriate referrals if necessary.
