What are the responsibilities and job description for the Airport Civil Engineering Co-op/Intern position at Passero Associates?
Give your civil engineering experience a twist! Passero Associates’ Marietta, GA office has exciting, paid Civil Engineering Co-op/Intern opportunities in their Aviation Department. Airport planning, design, and construction involves multiple aspects of civil engineering, including transportation, site development, grading and drainage, erosion control, utilities, and pavement design. Use your skills and education to help our team develop and improve airports across the Southeastern United States and gain valuable and practical experience toward a professional career in Civil Engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with different disciplines (engineers, planners, architects, and construction field personnel) to understand how each discipline contributes to a successful project.
- Design airfield projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Research Federal Aviation Administration and/or Georgia Department of Transportation design guidance.
- Prepare technical documents (e.g. technical specifications, engineer’s reports) in MS Word.
- Perform construction quantity takeoffs and prepare engineer’s construction cost estimates.
- Attend project meetings and perform site visits with engineering team members, as needed.
- Assist construction field personnel with site visits, construction observation, and report preparation.
Qualifications/ Experience:
- Pursuing BS degree in Civil Engineering or a civil-related field.
- Available Spring or Summer 2025, open to part-time or full-time schedule.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD (Civil 3D a plus).
- Prior civil engineering co-op/intern experience a plus.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong communication skills.
- Eager learner.
- Ability to visit job sites – personal vehicle and valid driver’s license required.
