We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to start immediately and support a dynamic accounting team. This position will play a critical role in supporting the financial operations of an organization with multiple legal entities and a complex corporate structure. The Staff Accountant will ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain compliance with accounting standards, and contribute to the company's overall financial health.
You'll work a hybrid schedule, with some days from home and others from the company's Huntsville location. This is a temporary position with hourly pay starting at $30/hour, based on experience, needed through February 2025 or longer. Hours may vary from part-time to 40 hours/week with overtime pay. Depending on performance and company needs, this could become a permanent position.

Staff Accountant Responsibilities may include:
Accounting Operations
- Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Reconcile accounts, including bank accounts, intercompany accounts, and general ledger accounts, for multiple legal entities.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
Intercompany Transactions
- Monitor and record intercompany transactions, ensuring proper documentation and elimination during consolidation.
- Work closely with legal entity controllers to align on intercompany reconciliation and compliance.
Financial Reporting
- Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Support external audits by preparing schedules, providing documentation, and addressing auditor inquiries.
Compliance and Documentation
- Maintain compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures for financial reporting.
- Ensure adherence to tax and regulatory requirements across jurisdictions.
- Update and maintain accounting policies and procedures specific to multi-entity operations.
Analysis and Collaboration
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Tax, Treasury, and Legal, to ensure accurate and efficient financial operations.
- Support special projects such as system implementations, mergers and acquisitions, and process improvements.
QualificationsEducation and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- MBA, CPA, or CMA desirable
- Five or more years of progressive Accounting experience
- Background in high-volume, dynamic organizations
- Multi-company and/or manufacturing experience preferred.
Skills and Competencies
- Proficient in accounting software and ERP systems; SAP experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.).
- Exceptional problem-solving, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
